[Event Report] The first Global Defense Startup Ecosystem survey (RAIS)

On June 24, 2026, the Research Institute for Advanced Innovation and GeoStrategy (RAIS) held the first Global Defense Start-up Ecosystem Survey as part of the RAIS Program. The survey invites leading overseas defense startups and ecosystem stakeholders for discussion and networking with representatives of companies.

For this inaugural session, we were honored to welcome Mr. Julius Amrit, COO and Director of NewSpace Research and Technologies, an Indian leading defense startup. Mr. Amrit delivered a lecture on the current state of India’s defense industry and innovation, as well as on potential avenues for Japan–India collaboration in defense innovation. This was followed by a lively discussion between Mr. Amrit and the companies, including exploration of concrete opportunities for cooperation.

We were also honored to welcome H.E. Nagma Mohamed Mallick, Ambassador of India to Japan, and Mr. Hajime Sasaki, State Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
