Workshop for Artists Applying for International Grants

Experienced grant-making foundation officers will teach the know-how of effective grant application for Japanese artists thinking of applying for US based grants. Information on both individual and institutional grants will be presented. Participants have the option to submit a simulation grant to be evaluated by the lecturers on the day of the workshop.

Date & Time:  Saturday, October 22, 2011, 4:30 – 9:00 pm

Venue:   Iwasaki Koyata Memorial Hall, International House of Japan

Admission:  6,000 yen, IHJ Members: 3,000 yen

Language:  Mainly Japanese (with some lectures in English)

Lecturers:  Eric Gangloff, Margaret Mihori (Japan-US Friendship Commission), Junko Chano (The Sasakawa Peace Foundation), Christopher Blasdel (International House of Japan) and others.

Seminar Topics:
– Grant-writing basics
– Explanation of terminology
– Grant-writing for individuals
– Grant-writing for institutions
– Simulation grant-writing evaluation

 

Participants should have basic writing skills in English. A simulation grant application will be sent to all participants. Please fill it out and bring it to the workshop for evaluation.
