I-House is starting a new program that invites architects from Japan and abroad to think about the contemporary world from various angles, through architecture. The speaker for the first program, Mr. Kengo Kuma, positions the new Olympic Stadium in Tokyo as a symbol of what he calls the Age of the Forest, a shift from an era of concrete to that defined by the forest–our relationship to nature. In this lecture, Mr. Kuma will be talking about the architectural designs and projects needed in the new age, as well as the relationship between architecture and society, touching upon works such as the new Olympic Stadium, the Portland Japanese Garden Cultural Crossing, and the China Academy of Art Folk Arts Museum.
