Mr. Motegi, a former participant in the Nitobe Kokusai Juku, established an association called “Machi no Hokori” (Pride of Community) after his visit to Otsuchi, Iwate, on a field study of the Nitobe Kokusai Juku following the March 11 disaster. He has been working on creating communities transcending generation and region in Kesennuma, Miyagi and beyond. In this lecture, he will share his ideas of leadership in the age to come focusing on empathy and action as well as being future-oriented, based upon his own experiences.

Motegi Takahito

After graduating from the University of Tokyo in 2002, Mr. Motegi joined McKinsey & Company and planned the management strategy of major companies. In 2004, he joined Link and Motivation Inc., engaging in consulting on human resource management and then became an operating officer in its brand strategy department in 2010. He established an association called “Machi no Hokori” (Pride of Community) in Kesennuma, Miyagi, in 2012 after his visit to Otsuchi, Iwate, following the March 11 disaster as a participant in the Nitobe Kokusai Juku. He has been working on creating communities transcending generation and region. In 2013, he established BOLBOP Inc. to bring people together and revitalize communities. BOLBOP stands for Bring Ownership of Life Back to its Original Place.
