“I would like to devote my one-time life to the works which will exert a great impact on society,” Mr. Iwase says. Following his own words, Mr. Iwase started Lifenet with the goal of offering simple, convenient and competitively priced products and services directly to customers over the Internet, a unique venture at that time in Japan. He will share his ideas on the motivation, initiatives and power to change society.

Iwase Daisuke

Mr. Iwase started his career at the Boston Consulting Group and also worked for Ripplewood Japan, a private equity firm. After graduating from Harvard Business School (MBA with High Distinction), he co-founded Lifenet in 2008 together with Mr. Deguchi Haruaki, who is the Chairman and CEO of Lifenet. Mr. Iwase became Director of Lifenet Insurance Company in October 2006 and served in various positions such as Executive Officer of Application Support Department, Corporate Development Department, Product Development Department & Marketing Department. He assumed his current position in June 2013. He is a graduate of the University of Tokyo (Faculty of Law).

What is the “Nitobe Leadership Program”?

The Nitobe Leadership Program (Nitobe Kokusai Juku in Japanese) started in 2008 to train young professionals from various organizations and corporations to become public-minded leaders, equipped with a broad perspective to function in an international environment both in and outside the country. The program invites professionals of various fields to speak on their experiences, allowing participants (Nitobe Leadership Fellows) to deepen their understanding of such themes as globalization and leadership. This year, Fellows will consider the theme, “The World of 2030: Initiatives Toward a New Society.” Some of the lectures are open to the general public.
