International House of Japan Appoints Yuichi Yoshida as Inaugural LEAP Fellow; Activities Commence at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies in Seoul

The International House of Japan is pleased to announce the selection of Yuichi Yoshida as the first fellow of the LEAP (Leaders in East Asia for Peace) Fellowship, an international dispatch program designed to nurture next-generation leaders in Japan and East Asia.
Mr. Yoshida began his first day of work on March 3, 2026, at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies, an independent think tank in Seoul, South Korea, which serves as the host institution for this program.
The LEAP Fellowship is an international exchange program aimed at connecting Japan with other East Asian countries and fostering the next generation of leaders. The host institution, the Asan Institute for Policy Studies, is one of South Korea’s leading think tanks with significant global influence in the fields of foreign policy and national security.

Over the next year, Mr. Yoshida will be based at the Institute to continue his research. He also plans to participate in a wide range of activities, including language studies, local events, and academic initiatives, as he strives to serve as a bridge between Japanese and South Korean think tanks.

Yuichi Yoshida is currently assigned to the Asan Institute for Policy Studies in Republic of Korea. Specialises in international security, with primary research on maritime security in the Indo-Pacific and energy security in Europe and Russia. At the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA), engaged in Indo-Pacific security and the security implications of critical and emerging technologies; also served in the Political Section of the Embassy of Japan in Bulgaria, covering foreign and security policy. Completed an MSc in EU Politics at the European Institute, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). B.A. in Policy Management from Keio University.
